Jonathan Parr, MD
Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases
Dr. Parr’s research focuses on the infectious diseases of poverty, with translational projects addressing malaria and viral hepatitis infection in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
A special congratulations to Dr. Parr for receiving a Caregivers at Carolina Travel Award! Dr. Parr proposed a symposium for this fall’s American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene annual meeting, which was recently accepted. He will chair “Fireside chats with global health greats: The importance of learning from failure,” which will provide a platform for diverse leaders in global health to share an unfiltered reflection on their careers, with a focus on how they overcame key challenges or failures. Speakers for this symposium will include a professor of epidemiology, the director of NIH Fogarty Center, a former Eli Lilly executive, and a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry.
