Melissa Bauserman, MD, MPH
Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Pediatrics
Adjunct Assistant Professor, UNC School of Public Health
Dr. Bauserman’s research focuses on infant malnutrition in low-income countries. Her long-term research objectives include applying her training in nutrition and infant growth to further study the determinants of stunting in infants and young children. By better understanding risk factors for stunting, she will design trials and interventions that prevent stunting with the goal of reducing mortality in children under 5 years of age. Her work is timely because stunting of growth will become a key focus of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals given the high association between growth stunting and child mortality.
